Thing to do and see in and around Sorrento:

Walk down to Watts Cottage and Pioneer Memorial Gardens, which is next to the museum at the south end of the shops on the corner of Ocean Beach Road and Melbourne Road.

Visit the Sorrento Museum and Heritage Gallery.  The museum is housed in the National Trust classified Mechanics' Institute which was built from local limestone in 1876-77.  (Next to Watts Cottage, shown above)   For enquiries call +61 3 5984 0255. See:

Talk a walk in a lovely park, along side the front beach, and if you have children, talk them to the adventure park.

Talk a walk into the main street of Sorrento and enjoy the shops, cafes, restaurants, 19th Century architecture or even a film at the cinema.

Take a ride on the Sorrento - Queenscliff Ferry

Walk to the Sorrento back beach. On the top of the right hand corner of the image below you can see the distinctive shape of Coppin's Lookout.  After walking up to the lookout you can return and enjoy a devonshire tea, coffee or even a meal at the Coppins Tea Rooms.  It is a real treat to enjoy this great view of the ocean beach inside the cafe or while being refreshed by the great ocean breeze at the outdoor seating area.

Walk up to Coppins Lookout and enjoy the view of Sorrento Back Beach and coastline as well as Port Phillip bay.  Port Phillip Bay, is visible on the left hand side of the photo, showing how narrow the peninsula is at Sorrento.  It only takes 25 minutes to walk from the sand of the ocean beach to the sand of the bay beach.  The buildings this side of the car park are the Sorrento Life Saving Club, and the building on the other side of the car park is Coppin's Cafe and Tea Rooms.

Take a walk through the national park to London Bridge. (5 - 6 Km walk, but great scenery and fresh air makes the trip seem shorter!)

London Bridge at Portsea.  The walk from Sorrento backbeach through the national park to this lookout point is 4KM.
